Landline service offers some valuable advantages:

  • A landline offers the advantage of security and quality of your voice service.
  • A landline can provide you with multiple phone extensions in your home from a single line. This is great for families and invaluable for businesses.
  • A landline makes possible a wealth of additional wire-based business services, like high-speed Internet, Centrex, Auto Attendant, ISDN and more.
  • Businesses and residents alike receive automatic free white and/or yellow page listings in their local telephone directory when they have a landline. To have your wireless number included in the directory you must pay a monthly fee as a foreign listing.
  • E911 – or enhanced 911 services are available through many wireless carriers but are routed through the CHP offices closest to the telephone service. Also, wireless emergency calls cannot be traced to a precise location like landline phone calls.
  • Local Directory Assistance calls are provided free (up to five monthly) with your residential landline service from SureWest Telephone (in territory). Industry standard for wireless carriers is to charge for this service every time you make a 411 call. If you have our telephone service from our broadband residential services division (out of territory) there may be a fee for such calls, depending on your plan.
  • Your long distance plan is not transferable with your landline number. You must check with your new wireless provider for availability and charges for your long distance calling.
  • A landline is the connection point for several additional services you may have in your home or business such as Internet access, satellite or dish TV systems, alarm monitoring and emergency response systems, among others. The termination of your landline could result in the inadvertent disruption and termination of these services. In addition you may be bound by the contract terms-of-service for these providers, even if your landline is disconnected.
