Construction Fiber-Optic Network
SureWest is continually expanding our efforts to offer high-speed communications services to all of the Sacramento Valley. We’re building this revolutionary fiber-optic network, one neighborhood at a time. Through this network we can deliver bundled digital TV, high-speed Internet and telephone services right to your door – all from one provider, on one bill.
SureWest is licensed through the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission, and will be installing this fiber-optic network in public easements and public rights-of-ways. In cooperation with the City’s Department of Public Works, we promise the least amount of disruption and the highest quality of work.
It’s our goal to keep you informed of our construction plans every step of the way. As we enter new neighborhoods for construction, we open a dialogue with resident associations and individual homeowners. We want to address your concerns and questions!
Open dialogue with utilities commission, planning leaders and neighborhood associations
Part of our goal is to be able to offer these services equally to everyone. We work closely with public utilities commissions and neighborhood associations in planning our network expansion, with an effort to make our construction phase mutually beneficial!
Letters to residents
Once construction is slated to begin, each resident is notified by letter thirty (30) days in advance. The letter will explain in detail the network construction process, and address any questions and concerns. Five to 10 (5-10) days prior to construction, residents will also be visited in person by a SureWest representative. If not at home, a door hanger will be left on the front door with a telephone number to call to address issues or concerns.
Construction progress
Installation will be either underground or aerial, following the same route as your existing TV and telephone cabling. All our workers are licensed and insured. Workers and vehicles will be clearly identified with badges, uniforms, company logos, indicating they work for SureWest. We will be accessing front and back yards depending on where your neighborhood power and communications utilities are located. Construction typically takes about eight weeks, barring unforeseen circumstances. Seventy-two (72) hours before constructions begins, there will be street signs in the neighborhood to alert you that network construction is about to begin. If necessary, SureWest workers will knock on doors to gain access to the pole line in the public utilities easement. If residents are not at home, a door tag will be left to let residents know that workers entered the yard. If there is a pause in network construction in excess of ten (10) days, we will notify residents in-person and by door tags before construction resumes again.
